Winner announced in 5th annual
Acadia Night Sky Festival poster contest

Footbridge under a Starry Sky to grace 2018 posters

BAR HARBOR, Maine – Vincent Lawrence’s photograph, Footbridge under a Starry Sky, has been chosen as the winning image for the 10th Annual Acadia Night Sky Festival poster contest. A nationwide contest was held to find the iconic image and the selection committee was impressed with the number of high-quality entries received, more than ever before.

The winning image is of the footbridge at Jordan Pond, which you will find on the Jordan Pond Path on Mount Desert Island, encompassing the full arch of the Milky Way as visible from the north end of Jordan Pond at midnight. More than 70 photographers and artists submitted their original work capturing the night skies over Acadia and Downeast Maine, yet Lawrence’s work stood out.

Lawrence was born and raised on MDI, enjoying the out-of-doors provided by the National Park and surrounding communities. He naturally combined his love and knowledge of the area with his passion for photography to form Acadia Images Workshops. Now Lawrence gets to meet visitors from all over the world and show them some of the best that Acadia has to offer, including the dark, star-filled skies.

Cape Air, sponsor of the Acadia Night Sky Festival for several years running, will present Lawrence with two round-trip airfare vouchers between Bar Harbor and Boston.

Posters will be available in early summer from our store.
